Johnny Wilson, a former Florida State wide receiver, officially signs a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ten players from Florida State’s 2023 squad were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. It is unfortunate that the College Football Playoff selection committee did not believe this team had the talent to go up against the greatest in the league.
Regretfully, the Seminoles are at a loss for what to do at this point save go on and learn from the experience. Of the ten draft selections, head football coach Mike Norvell has reason to be exceedingly proud of that.
When they fell at home to FCS opponent Jacksonville State on a last-second touchdown, some people believed that this football team had reached an all-time low. The Seminoles, who have gone 28-7 in their last 35 games, have responded, though.
In order to provide veteran depth where it was needed, Norvell made the decision to keep pounding the transfer portal. The Seminoles were able to start the turnaround because of that leadership. Johnny Wilson, a former wide receiver for Arizona State, was one guy he added.
Despite being listed as 6’7″, Wilson suffered injuries and was underutilized while playing with the Sun Devils. The large playmaker quickly established himself as a potent weapon for the offense and quarterback Jordan Travis.
With Florida State, he caught 84 passes for 1,514 yards and seven touchdowns in his two seasons there. Wilson suffered two concussions in his final season with the garnet and gold, which was sad. His numbers, in my opinion, should have been improved.
