Predictions of rainy weather have caused the Phillies-Braves and Brewers-Mets season openers to be moved up to Friday.

Due to the likelihood of rain in both New York and Philadelphia, baseball games were rescheduled for Friday.

Thursday was scheduled to be the first full day of Major League Baseball action this season, with the New York Mets taking on the Milwaukee Brewers. However, the Mets decided to postpone the game until Friday at 1:40 p.m. because it was predicted to rain heavily in Queens on Thursday.

Due to the anticipated rain, the Philadelphia Phillies were also forced to reschedule their sold-out game against the Atlanta Braves from Thursday at 3:05 p.m. to Friday.

Pat Murphy, the manager of Milwaukee, stated that even if it means taking a day off in between games, he would prefer to play when it is safe for the players. Under overcast skies, the teams from New York and Milwaukee rehearsed at Citi Field on Wednesday.

Murphy said, “Everyone is excited to start playing. But the seasoned players who have been around realize that the season is a long six months.” After Craig Counsell left the team to manage the Chicago Cubs, Murphy assumed leadership of the NL Central championship-winning squad.

For the Mets, Buck Showalter was replaced by rookie manager Carlos Mendoza, a former bench coach for the Yankees.

Mendoza, who was appointed by the recently appointed President of Baseball Operations, David Stearns, expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming season. Freddy Peralta will start for the Brewers on opening day for the first time since Corbin Burnes was traded.

With Kodai Senga out with a shoulder injury, Jose Quintana will start for the Mets in the pitcher’s position. Senga is expected to recover and return in late April or early May. Quintana will take the mound; he recently became a citizen of the United States.

Murphy, who is 65 years old, said he is not concerned about the game being postponed. He underlined how crucial it is to play in pleasant weather.

Zack Wheeler and Spencer Strider will start for the Phillies against the Braves on Friday in an intriguing NL East game. The Phillies have ended their postseason runs in the last two years, despite the Braves dominating the division.
