A former New England Patriots quarterback will have a chance to compete for the backup spot in the NFC East. Regarding Adam Schefter of ESPN, Will Grier and the Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement for a one-year contract.

Grier will face competition from Tanner McKee and Kenny Pickett, who was traded to Philadelphia by the Pittsburgh Steelers, for Jalen Hurts’ backup slot.

Grier was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019; before to being signed by New England off Cincinnati’s practice squad the previous season, he was also with the Dallas Cowboys and the Bengals.

Grier never played in a game, even though the Patriots had quarterback problems with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. Grier told Karen Guregian of MassLive that he would enjoy the chance to start and demonstrate our abilities after former coach Bill Belichick instructed the trio to get ready to play.

Grier was cut by the Patriots a few days later, and he soon signed on again to the practice squad.

In December, Grier was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers from the practice squad of New England. However, similar to his stay in New England, he was never asked to play.

Since joining the Panthers in 2019, Grier has not started an NFL game.
