Purdy may not work for State Farm, but he has a license agreement with a major player in an unrelated industry.
Along with offensive lineman Colton McKivitz, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers was seen operating a John Deere tractor in San Francisco of all places.
This appears to be a commercial that we might see in between those annoying Whopper songs and the endless State Farm commercials. Perhaps it will appear elsewhere, considering the NFL’s absurd fee for a television ad.
For those of you wondering why this is happening, you may recall the popular video of Purdy riding a tractor that went viral during the 49ers’ bye week. That was him lending a hand to Jenna Brandt’s family on the farm, his fiancé.
Observing Purdy operating a tractor while donning a 49ers cap is among the more serene spectacles this season. Given that John Deere is practically synonymous with the agriculture sector, going after Purdy makes sense, especially after that video went viral on social media.
What makes this the best part of it? Purdy receives additional income on top of his salary. As one of the less expensive 49ers on the team, his base salary for 2024 will be $985,000. Yes, that’s a nice chunk of change, but considering the cost of living in Northern California, his importance to the 49ers offense, and the fact that he’s one of the less expensive players, extra cash is needed.
