This year’s Super Bowl entertainment program for the NFL was expected to be a historical first. Nevertheless, an unanticipated event involving one of the musicians they had scheduled forced them to postpone their performance.

The Super Bowl included a historical presentation.

On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will square off. Numerous musicians often perform both before and during the Super Bowl. As stated on the NFL website, Grammy Award-winning DJ Tiësto was brought in by the league to serve as their first in-game DJ:

On February 11, 2024, Tiësto will play a DJ set at Allegiant Stadium before the game while the players warm up and the spectators get settled. He will then continue to serve as the in-game DJ and perform throughout the game’s highlighted breaks, making history as the first DJ to perform throughout the entire Super Bowl. A portion of the show will be live streamed on the performer’s social media accounts and seen during the CBS Super Bowl LVIII broadcast.

On Sunday, though, Tiësto is unable to play.

Days before the game, Tiësto had to cancel due to a “unforeseen family circumstance,” according to Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado.

Tiësto released a statement

Tiësto announced his cancelation by writing a statement on his X account:

Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!

It’s unknown if the NFL plans to appoint a substitute for Sunday.
