While several other clubs have yet to reveal their 2024 kits, Inter Miami recently unveiled the away uniforms that Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will wear in Major League Soccer this season.
In an apparent inadvertent leak of the new jerseys, EA Sports FC showcased more than a dozen unofficial Major League Soccer kit designs on Saturday in its Ultimate Team Web App.
With the regular season starting in less than a month, clubs are currently playing friendlies while MLS preseason training camps get underway. A number of teams have not yet unveiled their 2024 season uniforms; in the past, these announcements have occasionally been made days before the start of the competitive matches.
As an exception, Inter Miami unveiled their new “La Noche” away uniforms on Tuesday at the Port of Miami on the world’s longest cruise ship, ahead of their two friendlies in Saudi Arabia. Royal Caribbean has become the team’s new front-of-shirt sponsor, and Lionel Messi and his teammates helped to christen the new liner.
The FIFA video game series has ruined any big plans for at least 18 of the league’s 29 clubs (San Diego doesn’t play until 2025) to reveal their new uniforms for the upcoming season.
Charlotte FC, DC United, CF Montreal, Nashville SC, New England Revolution, New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC, Philadelphia Union, and Toronto FC are among the Eastern Conference teams whose web app features graphics of one of their new uniforms.
In the Western Conference, each of the following teams is represented by a kit: Sporting Kansas City, Austin FC, Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The largest team affected by the ‘leak’ was LA Galaxy.
There are eight away kits and ten home kits among the unreleased designs. Products were listed on the Ultimate Team Transfer Market, and on Saturday, images of the different designs circulated on social media.
No clubs, MLS, EA, or Adidas have commented on the leak. The apparel company is the league’s official supplier and manufactures all 29 team’s kits.
They extended that deal, which began in 2004, last February for another six years to 2030 for £653 million. Adidas also supplies all training gear and the league’s official match ball.
