The Los Angeles Rams’ 2023 campaign is officially ended after they were defeated by the Detroit Lions in a close game during the Wild Card round.

The Rams and Lions played even, but the Rams’ failure to score touchdowns in the red zone killed their hopes of pulling off an upset. The players and coaches should be proud of themselves even though the outcome was disappointing since they achieved more than anyone could have possibly imagined.

But Los Angeles wasn’t done with only a defeat since several players were hurt. The most worrying one involved Tyler Higbee being knocked out of the game after taking a vicious blow to the knee.

Sean McVay later confirmed reports that Higbee tore his ACL as well as his MCL. “Yeah, that’s accurate,” McVay said. “So you got that. He’ll have that fixed. He is such a tough stud and means so much to our team in so many different ways and it’s unfortunate, but he’s got the right mindset and spirit.”

Given the timing of Higbee’s injury, McVay said it’s possible that Higbee may begin the Rams’ 2019 season on the physically unfit list.

“I don’t know that exactly. Obviously when you get an ACL this late in the year, I would be willing to bet you he’ll be a candidate for PUP, but to put a timeline on exactly… I think you have to get that surgery. The rehab ends up being different based on what they end up really finding when you go in there and how the recovery and the procedure ends up going to fix that. I would think at the minimum, he’ll be a PUP guy.”

Higbee, who committed to a two-year extension in the winter, is in bad circumstances, and considering the severity of his injuries, the Rams will probably progress him gradually. Higbee was replaced by Brycen Hopkins and Davis Allen against Detroit, but now Los Angeles might have to utilise a draft pick on another tight end.

Other than Higbee, the tight end room lacks experience, so let’s hope the seasoned player recovers quickly.

Kyren Williams has hand surgery following the Rams’ defeat by the Lions.

In addition, Kyren Williams seemed to have a hand injury against the Lions, which caused him to miss a few snaps of action. Later, the Rams revealed that Williams had recently undergone surgery to fix a broken hand bone.
