Due to a calf injury, Christian McCaffrey will not play for the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18. Even if there is nothing left to play for, Deebo Samuel and the other starters won’t be sitting out.

In an interview with Kay Adams of the Up & Adams show, Samuel made this revelation and made clear that there is no doubt in their minds about whether they will play or not. The 49ers will have all hands on deck if they are healthy.

“You definitely want to keep the flow going but you also want to give your body a rest. So I feel like we’ll play this game for a good bit just to keep the groove going and not take too much time off. I feel like we’ll be going this week, just practicing hard and continuing to do the things we do,” Samuel said when asked whether the 49ers starters will play or sit out on Sunday for the regular-season finale.

Although some supporters may prefer that Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers starters simply take a break, it’s crucial to remember that the seasoned wide receiver stated they would only play for a “good bit.” To preserve their fitness for the postseason, they might just play in the first half or quarter.

As it turns out, Kyle Shanahan is unlikely to put his players in harm’s way. However, supporters shouldn’t anticipate that the starting will play for very long. The Niners may take a shower early if it does appear that things are getting out of control.

Why Can the San Francisco 49ers and Deebo Samuel Unwind in Week 18?

Rams can't stop Deebo Samuel from catching defense off guard - Los Angeles Times

Fans of the San Francisco 49ers have good reason to be against Deebo Samuel and the starting lineup when they play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18. They have nothing left to play for, as already said.

With a 12-4 record through Week 17, the Niners have already locked up the top NFC spot. San Francisco will be able to retain the top seed even if they lose to the Rams and the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions both triumph in Week 18 to finish with a 12-5 record.

Having said that, supporters believe that starting players are taking needless risks. Ultimately, nobody can foresee when an injury may occur. It’s difficult to prevent injuries in this game because of how physically demanding it is.

Samuel does, however, raise an important issue about playing and maintaining the momentum. The 49ers will have to wait a while to play again because they will get a first-round bye after winning the conference.

Samuel just didn’t want to be rusty when they returned to the pitch in the divisional round, given that.

On game day, Shanahan will be in charge of allocating his players’ minutes. I hope they just don’t go overboard.
