The Los Angeles Rams find themselves in a challenging situation. A more prevalent practice has been to rest starters when the team has already secured a postseason spot and has little possibility of moving up in the seeding. And while the discussion about whether players should rest or rust will resurface during the NFL playoffs’ divisional week, there is one aspect that the Los Angeles Rams should keep an eye on before making a final choice.

Los Angeles Rams Have More at Stake Than Just Another Victory

It is a sport played in teams. In the great scheme of things, winning a Super Bowl is meant to be the primary team aim, regardless of individual records. However, Puka Nacua’s rise is creating a chance for him to have a historic rookie season.

Nucaua needs just 29 more receiving yards to shatter the rookie season’s record for most receiving yards ever. Would missing week eighteen ruin an otherwise excellent rookie campaign? Naturally, no! It speaks volumes about him as a player because he has already established himself as one of the league’s top wide receivers. However, adding the record from this season would be a wonderful bonus.

Potential Los Angeles Rams Scenarios

Is it feasible that Nacua merely participates in the first half while the starters help secure the record? Yes. It’s also quite possible that head coach Sean McVay will decide against risking an injury by resting his starters.

But this might be an error. Given how well this squad has been playing together lately and how frequently the roster has changed over the season, it would be a mistake to pass up the chance to keep up the momentum.

Playing football always carries some risk, even if the danger of injury occurring just before the playoffs is one of them. Regardless of a game that could shatter records, we shouldn’t be shocked if starters play for this squad considering where the Los Angeles Rams are in the program’s growth.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver

Nacua has been amazing this season, regardless of whether he breaks the record or not! The BYU product, selected in the fifth round, has had a fantastic rookie season in the NFL. He already has seven games with 100 yards or more, matching the feats of Justin Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. during their respective rookie campaigns.

You can tell how committed and content he is to be on this club from his prior remarks in an interview on the Los Angeles Rams YouTube page.

I guess just a flow state. And just feeling like I couldn’t really think past of what was happening next. Feeling so present and just like everybody around me was just feeling like I was in the right place.

Although listening to Nacua, it doesn’t seem like his biggest worry or concern is the album, which would be good. Nacua is concentrated on getting ready to give his team the best chance to succeed.
