Just minutes after the tough 83–60 defeat to the Texas Longhorns women’s basketball, Kristy Curry stepped in front of reporters and delivered a passionate defense of one of her players. The head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide women’s basketball made it clear that the performance on the scoreboard did not define the effort or value of Karly Weathers.
Curry acknowledged that the loss was difficult for the entire team, but she quickly shifted the conversation toward accountability and support within the program. According to the coach, Weathers has been one of the hardest-working players in the locker room, and a single challenging night should never overshadow the commitment she brings to the team every day.
The veteran coach emphasized that players go through ups and downs during a long season.
