BREAKING: Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer Suspends Three Star Players After Nightclub Incident

Duke men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer has suspended three of the Blue Devils’ top players indefinitely after they were caught at a downtown Durham nightclub Monday night, hours after missing a scheduled team practice while claiming to be ill.

Sources inside the program confirmed that Scheyer was shown security-camera footage and received multiple eyewitness accounts placing the players at the venue well past midnight. Upon reviewing the evidence Tuesday morning, Scheyer immediately imposed the suspensions and removed the trio from all team activities.

“Think skipping practice and lying about it makes you a Duke Blue Devil? Think again, not on my court, not under my watch,” Scheyer said in a brief statement released by the program.

The identities of the suspended players have not been officially disclosed, but multiple sources indicate the group includes at least one starter and two key rotation pieces from Duke’s current 5-0 squad. The suspensions are effective immediately and will be re-evaluated after the upcoming Champions Classic showdown with No. 1 Kansas on November 26.

Duke athletics declined further comment beyond the initial statement, citing “internal team matters.”
