An evaluation from Lakers doctors on Friday revealed Cam Reddish has a right ankle sprain.
Los Angeles Lakers winger Cam Reddish will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to a right ankle sprain, according to a team doctor’s evaluation conducted on Friday. The Lakers will reevaluate Reddish in the first to middle of February.
Reddish landed awkwardly on his ankle during the Lakers’ game against the Clippers on Tuesday. He was declared ineligible for the Chicago Bulls game on Thursday.
Reddish is averaging 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 33.7% 3-point shooting in 23.3 minutes per game over 35 appearances in his rookie campaign with the Lakers. His length, activity level, versatility, and off-ball skills are particularly valued by the Lakers. Before Austin Reaves and then D’Angelo Russell were added back to the starting lineup by Darvin Ham, he started 26 games.
Reddish had a great start to the season, being nominated for Western Conference Player of the Week in November after blocking Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant with a game-winning shot and playing lockdown defense. But a slew of minor wounds to his face, groin, ankle, knee, and foot stopped him in his tracks. This season, he has missed ten games and left a few others early.
The team’s six-game road trip against the Golden State Warriors kicks off on Saturday, and Reddish’s ankle sprain probably means he won’t be playing. On February 8, the Lakers will host the Denver Nuggets at home. LeBron James, Taurean Prince, Austin Reaves, Max Christie, and Jarred Vanderbilt will be the Lakers’ starting lineup on the wings in the interim.
